Simon Tyler is honored and delighted to work alongside other progressive educators in this beautiful, historic school. After more than two decades as an educator, he feels more inspired than ever by the work of children, teachers, and parents here at Prairie Creek. Simon considers it a privilege to be part of this remarkable community of learners.
This is Simon’s second school leadership position. Prior to taking over the director’s role at Prairie Creek in 2011, he served for three years as director of Northfield School of Arts and Technology, a grades 6-12 charter school in Northfield. His teaching career encompasses teaching experiences in England, Minneapolis, and six years as a 4-5 teacher at Prairie Creek.
Simon holds a B.A. degree in English Literature from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and a M.S degree in Educational Leadership from Mankato State University. He is in the process of completing an Education Specialist degree and acquiring administrative licensure at the University of St. Thomas.
Simon lives with wife Vickie on a farm just five minutes away from Prairie Creek. They have three boys—Matt, Jordan, and Miles. Always an Englishman at heart, he stays connected to his roots by playing and coaching soccer, and watching his beloved Manchester United on TV.
